Job Description: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Legal Assistant to support our lawyers in immigration and civil litigation cases. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a legal assistant, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management: Assist our lawyers with case preparation, including drafting and reviewing legal documents, maintaining case files, managing deadlines, and filing in court and tribunals.
Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and schedule appointments.
Document Preparation: Prepare and file legal documents with courts and government agencies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations and procedural rules.
Court Procedures: Navigate various court procedures and protocols, including filing motions, scheduling hearings, and managing court calendars.
Administrative Support: Perform general administrative duties such as answering phones, managing calendars, and coordinating meetings.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with lawyers and other staff to ensure smooth workflow and efficient case management.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in immigration and civil litigation, with a strong understanding of different court procedures.
Education: legal assistant diploma or higher or in a related field.
Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in legal document preparation.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in a language other than English will be considered a strong asset.
Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software.
Candidates must legally reside in Canada and have legal permission to work for any employer.
